I have current version 4.3.30 of NoMachine installed.  Both my work machine server and home machine client have save version I just for fun installed it from my current Linux version using NoMachine 4.3.30. As it installed it disconnected, but then connection was fine. When I connect using my Windows machine from home to work all is perfect.  However, connection from the Linux machine running Ubuntu 14.04 although the connection is fine, control characters are dropped.

I noticed a similar problem with VNC which I fixed by enabling mapping from meta keys. Undoubtedly this is a simple configuration issue but I did not see a fix in the docs. Both machines use gnome 3 (gnome shell).  NoMachine is the only system whereby I can reboot my machine remotely, have it come back up and log in after reboot with the usual graphical interface.   I could not find the fix for this but it has to be simple.  This is a great product, much better than vnc.  I am amazed you offer it for free.

So you are experiencing problem with both client and server running NoMachine 4.3.30 on Ubuntu 14.04 and Gnome 3 desktop. Am I getting this right?

I’m suspecting that something happens to Ctrl keys on your client. Could you get this info:

    • xev output on client side generated pressing and releasing Ctrl key
    • output of xmodmap -pke command (client side)
    • the file key.map generated by command xkbcomp -xkb $DISPLAY key.map (client side)
