I am using Xubuntu as a dumb terminal for some Windows machines and I have a question about ctrl-alt-del passthrough. On Linux, all the other remote control packages I have seen, I am able to unmap ctrl-alt-del from the display manager/desktop environment and the remote control would no longer capture ctrl-alt-del locally and would pass the actual real keystrokes through to the machine being remotely controlled.

Is this possible with NoMachine? I am aware of the option to send keystrokes, but this is a training nightmare for non-tech savvy users. Especially when they see the Windows sign in screen asking them to press ctrl-alt-del.

Hi. I think you may need this Feature Request, we plan to include it in the next release:

Adding a keyboard shortcut to send ctrl+alt+del
    https://www.nomachine.com/FR09N03203

If it is it, I’d suggest to subscribe to the FR to be notified when we’ll release it.

I guess if that is the only option it would work, but on VNC for example… especially on a linux box where Ctrl-Alt-Del can actually be unmapped… it is actually easier to just remove the BLOCK for Ctrl-Alt-Del. That is the way VNC, RDP, and some other protocols and viewers handle on a linux desktop. A Ctrl-Alt-Del on the host just automatically goes through to the computer being remotely controlled if Ctrl-Alt-Del isn’t mapped on the Linux box running the viewer.

I understand your point, but we prefer to avoid to hardcode key combinations to grant more freedom to users. NoMachine client shortcuts are configurable and quite flexible, they’re based on users’ feedback and generally appreciated.
The default shortcut described in the Feature Request will be Ctrl + Alt + End, but since shortcuts are configurable you can set the combination you prefer.

The Feature Request mentioned in this topic has been implemented in 5.3.9.
