northsouthParticipantI am going to evaluate the possibility to replace a Citrix server with NoMachine Enterprise Server. There are several things I still couldn’t get clear idea about how NoMachine Enterprise server works after reading the server guide and installation guide.
The first thing is how NoMachine distributes virtual desktops. Let’s say I have 20 Windows virtual desktops running under Hyper-V, whose accounts are managed by Active Directory under one domain. Does Enterprise server assign virtual desktops randomly? What if I have a few virtual desktops in the same LAN that are not in the domain, having local accounts instead (for example dedicated desktops for some users)?
The guide says the authentication is configured and performed on the Enterprise server. How do NX accounts work with Active Directory accounts?
If 20 virtual desktops can be shared by many users, as a random pool, do I have to create all NX user accounts on each virtual desktop?
How does Enterprise server recycle resources? If a user opened several applications but didn’t log out, or logged out but left the apps running, can Enterprise server time out his session (killing the applications) and give the resource to other users?
I am at planning stage of evaluating Enterprise product, forgive me if my questions do not make sense.

BritgirlKeymasterThe administrator could install NoMachine on every virtual instance (‘NoMachine nodes’), and then add these nodes to the main server: Enterprise Server. Via manual selection, users would then select their desktop node once authenticated on the Enterprise Server. There is no randomly assignment of user to the session. Admin could configure/customize access to remote nodes using NX profiles.
