Is there a way to get sound to work on a modern Ubuntu Desktop like 24.04 that uses pipewire and with a virtual Gnome session?

I see the session starts with $DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS being set to something like unix:path=/tmp/dbus-lEaIXpjDb,guid=35a7eb8cd492941de245e5694dfdf5. So this is not the usual user level dbus where pipewire is designed to run.

Any tutorials or ideas how to get it working?

    Hi.

Are you using the latest version of NoMachine? Also, what version of PipeWire are you using?
You can check this with the command:
    pipewire --version

Or, if you also have the pipewire-pulse package installed, you can use:
    pactl info

    Regards,

Yes, both the NoMachine and Ubuntu is updated regularly to the latest available releases.

Server Name: PulseAudio (on PipeWire 1.0.5)
    Server Version: 15.0.0

I understand. It’s likely that the address provided is not the issue, but something else entirely.
To help us investigate further, please provide the detailed server-side and player-side logs from your side. This will help us identify any potential misconfigurations by the application on your machine.

You can find detailed instructions on how to gather them here:https://kb.nomachine.com/DT08U00298. Please ensure the log level is set to 9 in the UI.

Once gathered, please send them to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com, making sure to use the forum topic title as the subject of the email.

    Regards,
    Jakub
