I recently installed !M 4.6.16 on a Surface 3 so I could support it, but as soon as I connect from my desktop, the Surface starts to makes lots of systems noises (not sure of the event) and there are constant dwm.exe crashes, from eith KERNELBASE.dll or ntdll.dll that are both marked as coming from dwm.exe.

I’ve connected to other computers running NoMachine (no W10 ones though) and haven’t had the same problem.

    Host: 4.6.16 free version, W8.1 Pro, 64-bit

    Server: 4.6.16 free version, Surface 3 w/ W10 Home factory image, 64-bit

As soon as I stop connecting to the device, the sound and errors in the event log end.

Could you send the content of %ProgramData%\NoMachine\var\log from the server? You can use email: forum ( at ) nomachine ( dot ) com

To workaround this issue, uncheck “Use acceleration for display processing” in NoMachine configuration of the server.

Logs sent. Turning off acceleration did stop the errors and spurious noises.

Just for note, I was setting up another computer for my father, as the same problem.

Intel NUC i5 with HD Graphics 6000. So, it seems to me more of an issue with W10 and Intel graphics hardware, than specific to the Surface.

This seems to be fixed in NoMachine 5 on both computers.
