Every ~5 seconds a ‘g’ char is sent to NoMachine.  It’s like someone is pressing ‘g’ on the keyboard.  When I hold down the shift key, a ‘G’ is sent to NoMachine.  It does not happen with any other programs so it does not appear to be a hardware issue.  Most days NoMachine does not have any issues, but ~4 times over the last few weeks I get the ‘g’ char issue.  I don’t know how it starts or why it goes away.

Has anybody else had this issue or know how to fix it?

Remote Machine:  CentOs Release 6.10 (Final) Kernel Linux 2.6.32-754.12.1.el6.x86_64; GNOME 2.28.2 (I think its the free version)

I am using a virtual display, Windows 10 Home

    Hi.
Are you using the most recent NoMachine version?
What do you mean when you say you’re using a virtual display?
Do you’ve applications like password managers running in background?
Next time the problem occurs, press Windows + X and select “Command Prompt (Admin)” from the context menu. In the command prompt window execute the command tasklist > procs.txt and send the file procs.txt to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com.
    Thanks.

Hi. I’d be grateful if you can report after running the following tests.
What happens if you press the ‘g’ key while the issue occurs? Does it stop or it has no impact at all?
If the issue goes on, open the On-Screen Keyboard (from Windows accessibility apps menu), verify that the NoMachine window has the input focus then click the ‘g’ key, close the virtual keyboard and verify what happens.

Killing the “HD Audio Background Process” from the Task Manager stops NoMachine from typing a ‘g’ every 5 seconds. This bug likely started when my Realtek driver was updated on 2/22/2019 to version 6.0.1.8642.

Seems like the latest Realtek drivers and NoMachine don’t play well together. I have not noticed any issues with Realtek and other programs.

    Thanks Tor –

If I press ‘g’ key, while the issue occurs the normal ‘g’ appears and then phantom ‘g’ continues to appear every 5 seconds. After disabling/enabling the Realtek sound driver, the issue has stopped for now. When it comes back I will probably try to use an older Realtek driver version.

Thank you very much for the information, we’ll investigate it and check if there is something we can do on our side. And kudos for the finding, it was not an easy one! 🙂
