I know how to set it so that the server automatically blanks the screen when logged in by a client but I would like the ability to be able to choose when the screen is blanked on a needs basis; in other words, control this from the client side as to when this applies.

An easy and natural place to add this would be on the Special Sequences icon in the settings area, where the Lock Screen command is on the client side.

[Removed] has this ability. It would be nice if NoMachine also had this.

You can use the same checkbox that you use in the server settings to blank the screen when you are connected to that computer. During the NoMachine session just go to the !M icon of the desktop you are connected to and open the Server settings. Enable screen blanking on the fly. Once you’ve finished, you can disable it and then disconnect.

Edit: We thought deeply about what you requested, and it can indeed be a very useful feature, something the user can do “on the fly”, when needed. And so this is the result (see attached).

We’ll be adding it to NoMachine 9. 🙂

Glad to read that it will be added. BTW, I am using the Mac version.
