Eric CParticipantI installed this but I can’t seem to to figure out how to remote into my PC with my laptop.. remotely. I can do when I am on the same network which is worthless since I could just be on the PC and not need to remote in. I used Chrome remote desktop and like it enough for what I needed but when I moved my PC to Linux it doesnt want to work and trying to find a a replacement. I do not remote in enough to warrant a paid subscription. Just trying to find out if I am wasting my time on this or if I am doing something wrong. Thanks

BritgirlKeymasterHi Eric,
have you looked at the tutorial here? https://www.nomachine.com/getting-started-with-nomachine#internet
When you got the IP address from your remote computer to access it over the LAN, you should have seen an IP address for access over the Internet (see fig. 9 and fig. 10).

Eric CParticipantExactly why I am asking the question. The only IP address I get my is my local internal LAN. So as it stands the remote desktop is only remote if you consider the other side of the house as being remote.

BritgirlKeymasterHmm. The free version of NoMachine does not limit access to LAN only, I just want to make that clear.
So it must be something else. I suggest you try the following:
1) Uninstall (removing all traces completely) and reinstall. Your screenshot shows no !M icon (which is an indication of the server running) plus your screenshot actually says ‘no server running’. If the server was running, it would show the External IP.
2) If you continue to not see the External IP, from a terminal on the server please run:
sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver --upnpmap sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver --upnpstatusIt should show something like this:
sudo /usr/NX/bin/nxserver --upnpstatus Local IP 10.0.1.XX Gateway IP 10.0.1.1 External IP XX.XXX.XXX.XXX NX port 4000 mapped to: XX.XXX.XXX.XXX:234843) See the following article: https://www.nomachine.com/AR11L00827
If your home router doesn’t accept UPnP or NAT-PMP commands, it will be necessary to configure it through the router’s admin interface
