Hello all,
I migrated my NoMachine workstation 6.8.1-1 from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04. After that, and a completely new plain installation, the web service would not me working anymore. Normally after installation this should do the job. But no service is started and no user is (nxhtd) is added.
So I added the user manually and set permission to alle the files like my old server. But the web server will not start. The error is very strange:

Do you use domain users/LDAP/ActiveDirectory? Do you have non standard restrictions for users?
Could you tell us how exactly you created the nxhtd user?
A standard set of logs will be helpful for the investigation. Please gather them as described in:

and send to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com, referencing the topic as subject.

So the way I see it, the user is configured at the first start of the webserver. The only way for me to fix was to remove nomachine completly with all files, and install it again. After that i started the webserver once. With this user was created, rights were set. So every thing fine.
But same thing, server didn’ start after i change the ports to 80/443. For that i created an extra topic. Maybe you can help me with this: https://forums.nomachine.com/topic/nxhtd-webserver-did-not-start-anymore-after-changing-the-ports
Very thanks and best Regards
