Hi! I have noticed that the NoMachine client for Raspberry does not have hardware acceleration which unfortunately slows down the performance a lot.

I have seen that the Feature Request for GPU acceleration was just lately updated for being dismissed: https://www.nomachine.com/FR10R04038

However, for me the choice seems to be weird. It is talking about trying to use the OXM Player for hardware acceleration. I’ve been wondering if other alternatives have been considered? AFAIK, a lot of software programs are moving away from OXM and will use MMAL for decoding instead. There’s a thread with some information how MMAL leverages V4L2 from the start: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=268356

Could this potentially help to push hardware acceleration on it? It would really be fantastic if that can be possible as the Pi 4 could potentially be an easy and cheap way to have thin clients for NoMachine.

    Hi TimeWalker,

the original FR has been dismissed because the OMX framework, from our tests, revealed to be not suitable at its current state. MMAL is indeed under evaluation by our development team and you are right that it can be an interesting alternative.
