ParticipantIs there any hidden settings for HDR -> SDR conversion available?
I often need to remote into machines which have HDR enabled from clients which does not have HDR screens, which makes the image in NoMachine client look very washed out. But I can’t find any settings to adjust this in the GUI at least…
(I attached an example image to this post to illustrate the issue)

KeymasterHi, can you provide us the following information?
– NoMachine version and OS version on the client side
– NoMachine version and OS version on the server sideAugust 5, 2025 at 11:13 #53965mastrboy
ParticipantServer side is Windows 11 (Version 24H2 Build 26100.4652) running NoMachine 8.18.4
For clients I switch between Linux and Windows and experience the issue on both.
Windows Client is Windows 11 (Version 24H2 Build 26100.4652) running NoMachine 8.18.4 (Same as server)
Linux Client is NixOS 25.05 running NoMachine 8.13.1August 5, 2025 at 16:43 #53973Britgirl
KeymasterThanks for that. We’ve queued it up for investigation. It’s likely that it is also reproducible on version 9. If we need any more info from you, we’ll come back to you.

ParticipantThank you.
I can upgrade to version 9, I did not know 9.x was released and assumed at least the windows version would just auto upgrade to the latest version, I’m guessing the built-in updater only upgrades minor versions?
Will report back if 9.x has the same issue.

ParticipantI can confirm the issue when both client and server version is 9.1.24 as well. (See attached image)

KeymasterWe are able to reproduce it as well and are working on a fix. A workaround is to add this to the node.cfg on the Windows server side:
DisplayServerExtraOptions "-nodxgigrab"
The path to the node.cfg file depending on what Win architecture you have is C:/Program Files/NoMachine or C:/Program Files (x86)/NoMachine.

ParticipantThank you, the workaround fixed the issue and thanks for the quick help with this.

KeymasterNo problem š
[I] assumed at least the windows version would just auto upgrade to the latest version, Iām guessing the built-in updater only upgrades minor versions?
The built-in updater checks for all updates, major or minor. In the case of a major release, so when you have v8 installed and a v9 becomes available, it will first check that you are aligned with all the v8 updates. Then, if you are on the latest v8 update, it will notify you of the v9 availability.
Did you perhaps disable “Automatically check for updates” in Settings > Updates?

ParticipantAuto update check is enabled, I remember I got the 8.18.4 notification not that long ago, but can’t remember getting a 9.x update notification…
But, all systems are now manually updated to 9.x, expect the NixOS one, have to wait for the package maintainer to update that…

KeymasterIt’s strange you didn’t get a notification. We’ll investigate this internally. Thanks for letting us know anyway.
