My current setup:
– Samsung S23 Ultra
– Xreal glasses (they act as a 1080p monitor, connected via USB-C to S23)
– Bluetooth keyboard: https://www.amazon.com/seenda-Foldable-Bluetooth-Keyboard-Touchpad/dp/B0CCNS3871
– Remote Ubuntu DesktopI’m using NoMachine on S23 to remote into the Ubuntu desktop.
Current issues:
1. Win (Super) key triggers default Android/DeX shortcuts, it doesn’t get captured by NoMachine.
– I could possibly remap my shortcuts to utilize Alt in Ubuntu instead of Super and relearn the shortcuts, but I’m wondering if there’s a better way.2. Upper row buttons function as multimedia keys, and I have to hold Fn to use them as normal keys (this also applies to the “Delete” key).
– Tried Fn-Esc (this is the default Fn lock shortcut on Windows), but it doesn’t do anything.3. Alt-Tab doesn’t work (switches between Android apps instead of being captured by NoMachine). Alt-F4 also doesn’t work.
– Could potentially remap to another shortcut inside Ubuntu. But again requires relearning of shortcuts and creates inconsistencies.4. The DeX bar at the top is visible and I don’t see a way to hide it, so not all of the 1080p resolution is utilized and this results in the image being slightly shrinked.
5. Right mouse click on the keyboard’s touchpad acts as a left click instead inside Nomachine’s remote context.
I could possibly create a shortcut in Ubuntu to act as the right mouse button if I don’t find another solution.Does anyone know of any workarounds? I’ve seen some threads, but they are either outdated, confusing, don’t provide step-by-step solutions or are related to some other setups.
Would greatly appreciate any help!
October 2, 2024 at 08:15 #49862BritgirlKeymasterThanks for reporting. There is a bug that we are aware of related to point 5 in your post. There is a workaround there, so please try that: https://kb.nomachine.com/TR08V11198. For the other issues you are experiencing, we’re investigating.
October 11, 2024 at 16:36 #50152TorParticipantHi. Interesting device! Do you see a crisp display image through glasses? Are they tiring? Thank you for sharing your experience.
About the problems you noticed, I’m going to give you some info and how we plan to work on them.
1/3. This is something annoying because Android (at least up to version 14) doesn’t give a way to easily remap its shortcuts, like Win/Super, Alt+Tab, Alt+F4, etc. We’re running some experiments by installing a service using the accessibility layer, so far they’re promising but we’ll have to evaluate how to pack the service with the application because it is a pretty sensitive privacy layer.
2. Unfortunately we can’t help for this, as the actual pressed key depends from the keycode got from the input device (your Seenda keyboard, in our case). You could try to look for ways to lock the Function key, for example one of Seenda keyboard models can lock it by pressing Function and Delete keys. The solution for this has to be searched on device/OS side.
4. We’re adding to DeX the fullscreen mode working just like the desktop application, with a button or shortcut allowing to switch from window to immersive fullscreen mode. Nothing more to add about this, we’ve started working on it after your report and I don’t expect problems.
5. I can confirm what Britgirl said, it is a known problem and we’ll release a fix in our next release. In the end, you could temporarily use the workarounds you proposed, until our next version is shipped.

The glasses offer a relatively crisp view if someone has perfect vision. I have slight myopia, but I can still see most things, though I may need to squint a bit. Prescription lenses for these glasses are available, but I haven’t tried them yet. Personally, I find them less tiring than a regular monitor because their focus distance is farther away (I’m not exactly sure what that distance is, or if it’s at infinity). My eyes tend to get tired when looking at close-up objects (like a monitor), but not when looking at distant objects—or in this case, when the lenses shift the focus further away.
They’re also quite flexible, as I can use them in any position—even while reclining, lying down, or walking. I can quickly switch them off to see what’s in front of me, so this freedom of movement makes them less tiring as well.
However, if someone plans to purchase these, I’d advise looking at various options first. There’s the Viture One model, which I haven’t tried, but it’s worth comparing. Also, note that for Xreal, their arms tend to crack after intense usage, although this has reportedly been improved in their latest revision.
Thanks for sharing the detailed info! And you’ve given me an idea: I could use a clamp to keep Fn always pressed if I can’t find a software solution to lock it. I’m looking forward to the improvements you mentioned, as they’ll make using DeX remotely a breeze.
