I am managing a remote Windows 10 Pro machine that has a native resolution of 1600 x 900. My Mint machine is 2560 x 1600. If I use old-fashioned RDP I can pump up the RDP client to whatever, and the native resolution doesn’t matter.

Right now, I’m set to “Resize Remote Display,” and when I view in Mint I see it at 1600 x 900 in a window. It looks and performs well. If I set it to scale, and change the size of the window on Mint, it loses a lot of the crispness. I tried Viewport mode and adjusting the Window size snapped it back to the 1600 x 900 window.

Is there a way to achieve the RDP style behavior?

Hello. RDP leverages a virtual display driver to move the user session into a virtual screen which resolution can be undetermined. NoMachine captures the content of the physical screen, so user session keeps using a full-featured video hardware that impose resolution among a finite set of modes.
