After the upgrade on the version 4.0 (latest release 360_2), i can’t see the possibility to connect to a local display. Is there any way how to enable it? It worked in the 3.x out of the box.

I think you are looking for Step 5 on this website but it looks it works only for enterprise versions which are paid.

Milý Rene, bohužel ne. Někde jsem si dříve přečetl, že free verze neumožňuje vytvoření virtuálního sezení, ale umožňuje připojení k lokálnímu. Já ale v kroce 5 vidím (obr. 7): <No available sessions on this server> a info: <The server was unable to make the local display available or access to the local display is disabled.> A otázka zní, jak to povolit?

Dear Rene, unfortunately not. I’ve read there is no possibility to create new virtual session in the free version somewhere some time ago. It should allow the local display session only. But i see in the step 5 (fig. 7): <No available sessions on this server> and info: <The server was unable to make the local display available or access to the local display is disabled.> And the question is, how to enable it?

    Thanks for any help!

    Michal,

What version did you download for testing? The base NoMachine product or one of the Enterprise or Terminal Server eval products?

    Michal,

Can you send logs for debug that you can gather using the info here?

Ship them to me via email to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com and we will take a look. Please ensure that the email subject line is How to enable local display? so that we can track it properly.

I have the same issue on a new install. I never had this issue on the pre-release version or the 3.x version. In your step five there is no button available to create a new session.

You get the error <No available sessions on this server> which is a link to the following message.

The server was unable to make the local display available or access to the local display is disabled.

I have the same issue. I connect using FX protocol to a Ubuntu 12.04.4 server that ran an older version perfectly fine. I removed the software and /usr/NX as well as local files, and then installed the latest version.

I can connect but it shows <No available sessions on this server> that links to
The server was unable to make the local display available or access to the local display is disabled.

So yeah, the same boat as rwhyte1

Since version 4 won’t work, where do I fetch the older version?

    Same issue here.
I have a minimal X environment (no gnome, no kde, or something else) on my opensuse 12.2 server, since I only need to have a remote console.
    Was OK in version 3.5

I am having the same issue with a remote server. Has anyone found out how to make this work, or should I just go back to 3.x?

NoMachine (the free version) lets you access the physical desktop remotely and requires that the Xserver is running. You can also use NoMachine on a headless Linux server (without the need of having the X server running), more instructions are available here:

Any of the products from the Terminal Server range (e.g. Workstation or Terminal Server, https://www.nomachine.com/enterprise), allows to create virtual desktop sessions. In this case it’s not necessary to have the Xserver running.

The free 3, NX Free Edition, worked as a terminal server limited to 2 users. This functionality is no longer available in the free version.
