Installation on Windows 10 issues message ‘Application Error, The application was unable to start correctly’

During the installation of a NoMachine for Windows v8.1.0.1 on Windows 10, the following message is issued multiple times:

Application Error, The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)

The installation completes without reporting any error and requests the reboot.

After rebooting the computer, the NoMachine server fails to start.

Similar problems are reported for Windows 7 (and fixed) but not for 10. I tried on 2 different pcs, both updated from Windows 7 a couple of years back and both are up to date in terms of Windows updates.

Helpful will be full set of logs, you can pack whole log directory:

    usually – C:\ProgramData\NoMachine\var\log

You can send it to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com. If it’s possible you can also
    send screenshots of the errors.

Is it x32 or x64 operating system? Which version do you use now?
Did the problem happen before or on previous versions everything was ok?

I could not find any logs after the installation but do not remember checking that %PROGRAMDATA% folder. Currently that folder does not exists after I uninstalled the NoMachine. I will check the other machine when I have access, NoMachine should still be installed.

I had this problem a couple of years ago but cannot remember if it was before the Win10 update from Win7. I did not try again afterwards.

Windows info, both environments are same:

    Windows 10 Pro

    Version 22H2

    Installed on ‎08-‎Jul-‎2020

    OS build 19045.3803

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19053.1000.0

    Uploaded the programdata folder.

I see multiple errors in log files, probably a known problem but did not yet have time to dig into this.

Can you send the zip file to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com please? Use the title of this topic as the subject of your email 🙂
