Hi all, I have a Windows 10 box running NoMachine and am having an issue due to dual GPUs. The issue is that the system includes old Matrox integrated GPU for which there are no x64 drivers, so Windows just detects this unknown hardware as a “Microsoft Basic Display Adapter” (along with the yellow warning sign in Device Manager). There’s also a newer Nvidia 710 card in there, which is fine for my purposes and really all I need. Windows detects the dedicated Nvidia GPU fine, but the issue is that NoMachine does not “see” it. When I connect to the server, NM connects to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and thus is limited to a few less-than-optimal resolutions (1280×1024, 1600×1200) and (I assume) my connection speed takes a performance hit.
I do not have physical access to the server, so I cannot disable the Matrox iGPU in BIOS (assuming that option exists). I’ve tried disabling the MS BDA in Device Manager, but that still doesn’t get NM to detect the nVidia card. Is there any way to force NM to use the Nvidia card? Or to not allow it to use the MS BDA?
Appreciate your help!
