Hello — one of our end users observed the following when using NoMachine with the Mac M1 CPU:

NoMachine seems to be using a software implementation of VP8 for the M1 Macbook Client instead of hardware H.264 which causes a massive increase in latency. I’ve got the server set to H.264 only, but the Mac client is ignoring that and selecting VP8 (which causes NoMachine to use a software codec which seems very slow). This makes it much hardware to interact with my desktop.

Is there a way to resolve this? Is there a native build of NoMachine for the M1 CPU?

    Thank you,

    Vincent

    Hi Vincent,

there is not a native build for M1 yet, but we are working on it and it is in testing phase.

In our labs, however, we can use both hardware and software H.264 decoding on M1 machines with the current packages, and there is no known problem with it, so it would be interesting to take a look at your logs (client and server side). You can find instructions in https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR10K00697 and you can send them to forum@nomachine.com.
