I have a Macbook Pro with a trackpad (no middle mouse button). I use NX to connect from the Mac laptop to a Linux RHEL box. When I am physically working on the Linux RHEL box (i.e. without NX), I can use the middle mouse button to do certain copy-paste operations which are extremely useful. Is it possible to emulate the middle mouse button behavior on my Mac when connected to the Linux RHEL box via NX?

Sorry to disappoint you but there is no setting to emulate the middle mouse button.

If this is correct, then this is a definite oversight. This has been an X mainstay forever.

I can confirm that NX 4.2.27 wouldn’t recognize the middle button on a Logitech T400 I have connected to my Mac when connected to a CentOS 5 host. I’ll try another mouse and I’ll try to remember to report the results.

    Hi Pheckphul.
Actually we don’t have problems to handle the middle mouse button on any platforms, so we can confirm that the problem in your case may be related to the Logitech T400, which we didn’t have the possibility to test.
When we talk about “middle mouse button emulation” we mean the behaviour that you can normally trigger by pressing left and right mouse buttons, which on Linux it is the same as pressing the middle mouse button.
This option is not available at the moment, but it is ready in our development version and will be released soon.
