    Hello everyone,

I’m using NoMachine to connect with Win 7 on old laptop (Acer aspire 5738z with Intel dual core T4400 CPU) device as a helper PC. I’m really satisfied with this great software as it helping me a lot in my works. The problem is the laptop has weak CPU and using NoMachine put extra load on it (its encoding h264/vp8/mjpeg and I know this needs processing). I tried to change service codec types and still not satisfied with result. Wondering if there is any chance that I could lower the frame rate to give more time to cpu to breath and my own works. The current minimum frame rate on NoMachine service GUI program is 30 fps but minimum 4 fps or even two is enough for my work. Is there any thing (config file/or registry entry) that I can set the frame rate to lower value?

From the GUI it’s not possible to set a frame rate lower than 30 fps, but it can be done by editing node.cfg manually on the server side.

To have 4 fps you should set:

    DisplayServerVideoFrameRate 4
    DisplayServerUseVideoFrameRate 1

    Does this help?

Hi, just coming back to this to add that we had already discussed the FPS combo in the server settings and making it set lower values for users like yourself who don’t need the high frame-rate because you are using NoMachine just for simple remote monitoring, for example.

For that reason we will be adding the values 20, 10, 4 and 1 in the UI 🙂

Yes, I find it on etc folder. Thank you.

I agree. While the software has such feature why not putting it on UI and letting the users to decide about which frame-rate fit their needs. I think it would be great.
