I am pleased to report that bug report https://forums.nomachine.com/topic/chromebook-news-report has been corrected, and that the new release today for android, v8.4.2, which is a consistent version number with the Linux server I have on my home machine, works flawlessly as best I can tell. Even though it had been over 2 years since I filed this bug report, it is worth the wait since it works so well as an android app on my Chromebook(s). Even though I can run the NoMachine client as a Linux app on my Chromebook, the android version works much better and I can take advantage of the tablet features in addition to the laptop features (works with all features). The sound plays from the server fine, and I will soon be testing the data transfer features. All-in-all, a win-win situation, and I highly recommend using this new version on Chromebooks when a Linux desktop (or even Windows desktop) is needed.
