I’ve been using NoMachine successfully and this morning I installed Big Sur 11.5.2, and my audio driver is gone from the output list. When I connect from my host to my Mac’s server, the screen sharing, mouse and keyboard work fine. The audio however stays coming out of the Mac, and there’s no NoMachine audio driver anymore in the Output tab.
I’ve tried a complete reinstall of NoMachine and I’ve completely re-done the audio hack to get it working on Mac:
$ sudo kextutil -vvv /Library/Extensions/nxaudio.kext/
Password:
Defaulting to kernel file ‘/System/Library/Kernels/kernel’
Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil load –bundle-path /Library/Extensions/nxaudio.kext
$ kextstat | grep nxau
Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil showloaded
No variant specified, falling back to release

aray@~ $ sudo /etc/NX/nxserver –restart
NX> 162 Disabled service: nxserver.
NX> 162 Disabled service: nxnode.
NX> 162 Disabled service: nxd.
NX> 111 New connections to NoMachine server are enabled.
NX> 161 Enabled service: nxserver.
NX> 161 Enabled service: nxnode.
NX> 161 Enabled service: nxd.
Then I performed a full system restart.
Even after these steps, there is no audio driver present. “nxnode” is checked in the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Accessibility dialog.
