    I’ve been using NoMachine successfully and this morning I installed Big Sur 11.5.2, and my audio driver is gone from the output list. When I connect from my host to my Mac’s server, the screen sharing, mouse and keyboard work fine. The audio however stays coming out of the Mac, and there’s no NoMachine audio driver anymore in the Output tab.

    I’ve tried a complete reinstall of NoMachine and I’ve completely re-done the audio hack to get it working on Mac:

    $ sudo kextutil -vvv /Library/Extensions/nxaudio.kext/

    Password:

    Defaulting to kernel file ‘/System/Library/Kernels/kernel’

    Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil load –bundle-path /Library/Extensions/nxaudio.kext

    $ kextstat | grep nxau

    Executing: /usr/bin/kmutil showloaded

    No variant specified, falling back to release

    161    0 0xffffff7f9cd42000 0x3000     0x3000     com.nomachine.driver.nxau (4.1.b2) 78172556-B6A4-3112-BA41-E79D18108476 <142 6 5 3 1>

    aray@~ $ sudo /etc/NX/nxserver –restart

    NX> 162 Disabled service: nxserver.

    NX> 162 Disabled service: nxnode.

    NX> 162 Disabled service: nxd.

    NX> 111 New connections to NoMachine server are enabled.

    NX> 161 Enabled service: nxserver.

    NX> 161 Enabled service: nxnode.

    NX> 161 Enabled service: nxd.

    Then I performed a full system restart.

    Even after these steps, there is no audio driver present. “nxnode” is checked in the System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Accessibility dialog.

    Hi Blandy,
    when you manually load nxaudio it still doesn’t appear in output audio device list? or it does (it should) and it does disappear again after restart?

    after restart, can you show me output of:
    kextstat | grep nxau

    after restart when it gone again, run:
    sudo touch /Library/Extensions/

    and restart machine, does it help?
    and can you show me output of again:
    kextstat | grep nxau

    After a second full runthrough including Mac restart and NoMachine restart, the audio driver came back. I’m not sure why the hiccup happened.

    Hi,
    I’m glad to hear that a problem is solved.
