    Hey,

We are running into some issues with Pipewire and EL9 with the latest version of NoMachine.

    We are running

Rocky Linux release 9.0 (Blue Onyx) with GNOME

    pipewire
    Compiled with libpipewire 0.3.47
    Linked with libpipewire 0.3.47

    pipewire-pulse
    Compiled with libpipewire 0.3.47
    Linked with libpipewire 0.3.47

I’ve attempted to remove pipewire and replace it with pulse audio, and have found a system of commands that *sometimes* works ( extremely hit or miss) and generally requires me to try it 3 or 4 times, then reload the system as it never improves.

To switch from Pipewire to Pulse I’ve come up with the following Ansible script (please see attached)

I’ve also attached the logs from the bare bones install of NoMachine8 with Pipewire (Pipewire support was added in 8 correct?)

    Thanks!

Pipewire support was added in 8 correct?

Initial support for Pipewire in physical desktop sessions will be added in the next MR which is going to be soon. I would wait until then and then check whether it solves your issue once you’ve updated.

That makes sense to why its not working.

    Thank you!

What about for virtual sessions? Still no sound in virtual session (x11) with V8 under Fedora 36.

    What about for virtual sessions?

The developers are actually working on adding Pipewire support for virtual sessions. We can’t give you an ETA right now, but it’s one of our top priorities.

I’m also having an issue with no sound on a headless Arch server w/ pipewire (0.3.60). Running the latest NoMachine (8.2.3). I’m not seeing any audio devices being created.

Any tips to get this working? I know it’s in active development. If it’s not ready to use yet, is there a way I can force NoMachine to use pipewire-pulse?

Unfortunately not. The only workaround until we add support for Pipewire in virtual display sessions is to install PulseAudio and use that.
