Hello! I’m using NoMachine Terminal Server 8.13.1. I want to display a message everytime user logs in to a virtual desktop. I added the line

    NodeLoginGreeting “Message”

to node.cfg and restarted the nxserver with

    nxserver --restart

However I don’t any message when I open the virtual desktop for this server. It’s just the usual GNOME window. Am I missing something? How could I get a message to appear everytime a user logs in?

    Thank you!

Hi. We didn’t find issues with the greeting message. Could you please confirm name and version of your Linux distribution and Desktop Environment on the server?

Hi, that key is for when a user starts a new virtual desktop. If users are reconnecting to previously started virtual desktops, the message will not show.

    # Specify the message to be shown to the user every time the user
    # starts a new virtual desktop on this host.
    #
NodeLoginGreeting "Welcome to your NoMachine session

If users are reconnecting and you want to show a custom message, you need something similar to this:

    https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/AR02L00787 – example 2.

There is more info about user scripts in the installation and configuration guides, for example: https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/DT11R00174#11.5)
