I’ve set the UI on my Android to dpi 600 dp, this forces NoMachine into horizontal mode only, the app thinks I’m on a tablet.
I set a dp of 600 so that Android flip my home screen and basically any UI around to face up even if I’m holding my phone up or down (that’s what I wanted) but NoMachine ( the app I use the most) is stuck on horizontal mode only, so I’m forced to turn my phone. The reason I want 600 dp is because I sometimes open my phone “up side down”, so I wanted android to flip all the apps “up side down”. NoMachine seems to be the only app that has an issue with that setting.
Could you guys make it so that the screen is able to rotate in any direction even if you’re on a high “dp” settings on a low res (1080p) screen?
My feature request would be that the NX player resizes when you open the OSK.
I’ve tried [removed] and the only thing I absolutely loved about it was the fact that the view port of the machine was dynamic, if I open the android OSK it resizes the view port and allows me to zoom in and out without the keyboard being in the way.
It does make the view port feel smaller, but it also makes it easier to view what you are typing, something that NoMachine kinda sucks at when I just have to type in blindly because the line I’m typing in is hidden by the keyboard.
For reference the machines I’m connected to is a mix of Linux KDE (Manjaro, Opensuse) and Windows (10 and 7)
Best regards Gato 🙂

Physical screen size detection is based on screen pixel’s density, so changing the DPI value affects the result. This is normal and the application behaviour is expected. When running in tablet mode the user interface needs a wide horizontal space, that’s why it doesn’t allow the portrait orientation. We’ve experimented multiple solutions but none of them was good enough to unlock the orientation, so unless we change the interface to be the same on all devices (something we’re actually evaluating, anyway) I’m afraid I can’t offer a quick solution for your configuration.

Yes, this change is definitely on our road map. We didn’t want to reduce the viewport size because we’re unaware of the current remote cursor position and movements to reach it could be pretty narrow, but your experience is clear and we want to improve it, no doubts.
Thank you for your feedback!March 19, 2021 at 10:54 #32467GatosParticipantI’m afraid I can’t offer a quick solution for your configuration.
No worry, it’s a niche problem, I “shouldn’t” be putting 600dp on my phone anyway, the normal “max” dp is 240 or something like that.

Big brain play here:
Make a tablet mode and phone mode button? It could artificially tells the app that the device is only in Xdp instead of Ydp.
Jokes aside, I don’t think most people have an issue with how the interface works in tablet vs phone mode, but yeah the OSK thing, that’s something really interesting for me, that function really made [removed :] interesting. both those issues are a small detail for me on android.
