I see that NoMachine 8 is finally available as 64-bit for Windows. This is great! However, I notice that the software auto-updater won’t update you from 32-bit to 64-bit, and using the installers it’s not possible to install a 64-bit version over the top of a 32-bit version – you have to uninstall one first then reinstall the other.

So given it’s a little more time-consuming to change to 64-bit than the usual upgrade process, I thought I’d ask if there’s any practical/measured differences between the two, aka if it’ll be worth my time swapping over?

    Hi,

you have to uninstall one first then reinstall the other.

That is correct, by design. On Windows, 32-bit is installed in “Program File (x32)” and x64 is installed in “Program Files”.

practical/measured differences between the two, aka if it’ll be worth my time swapping over?

The NoMachine packages offer exactly the same features and functionality.
