    Newbie to Linux here…

I have Mint 21.1 installed in hyper-v on Win11 Pro pc. I have downloaded the nomachine deb package; double-clicked and the package installed. I have also set up in hyper-v a virtual switch connected to my NIC, so the Mint VM has I can see NoMachine and NoMachine server as apps, but when I click on either, nothing happens. I have no icon to indicate nomachine is running. I tried sudo /etc/NX/nxserver –list with the response ‘line 167: /user/NX/bin/nxserver.bin: cannot execute: required file not found.

I have navigated to /etc/NX/ and there is a folder server, plus nxnode and nxserver.

Not sure what to do next. NoMachine from Win11 does NOT see Mint, even though it has a valid IP address on my network.

    Any ideas will be appreciated.

It could be a simple case of installing the 32-bit package instead of the one for 64-bit systems. Which package from our website did you install?

Thanks for the idea. I’m pretty sure it was 64-bit.

Bottom line : I was looking for an easy -to -install and maintain option, and this isn’t it for me. I have decided to use Zorin instead of Mint and was able to  (rather easily) set up its built-in desktop sharing.

It would have been useful to see the name of the package. We test regularly on a number of hypervisor solutions and tested again on the fly with HyperV and didn’t have any issues installing Mint, which is generally considered an easy to use Linux distro by many.
