Client: macOS 14.3 / NoMachine free edition 8.11.3

Server: (Headless) Ubuntu 22.04 (Kernel 6.5.0-1014) / NoMachine free edition 8.11.3 / Nvidia Tesla T4 GPU

On the Connection tab is says “Encoding: SW encoding, H.264”. There are other applications such as Xorg that are using the GPU as I can see via nvidia-smi.

    find /usr/lb -name 'nvidia-encode.so' -o -name 'libcuda.so' 2>/dev/null reports

We are producing a similar behaviour and it seems to be caused by a recent nvidia drivers update. You have version 545 (libnvidia-encode.so.545.29.06). Can you downgrade to 535 and tell us if the problem disappears?

Before you downgrade to try, please send us the logs from the NoMachine server. You can extract them using the instructions here: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT07S00243. Send them directly to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com making sure to use the title of this topic as the subject of your email. Thanks!

Problem remains with 535. Emailed log files.

It works with .run driver package with version 535.129.03 which I downloaded from NVIDIA site. The 535 version that’s offered by Ubuntu is different and doesn’t fix the problem.

The logs confirm the problems we already know about. About the version, I was referring to 535 official NVIDIA drivers. Thanks for the pointing out that Ubuntu’s own 535 doesn’t fix the problem.
