ParticipantI’ve got a NoMachine server running on my desktop, but cannot get a client to connect to it. Trying to connect to a physical desktop. I get a segmentation fault each time I try. Here are my system details:
Server
OS: Debian 13.0 “Trixie” (Desktop PC)
DE: LXDE with X11
NoMachine: 9.1.24 (installed from .deb)Client
OS: Debian 13.0 “Trixie” (Laptop)
DE: XFCE with X11
NoMachine: 9.1.24 (installed from .deb)I’ve also tried connecting from my Android phone (NoMachine 9.0.186), with the same result. I just get “Error is 104: Connection reset by peer.” accompanied by a segfault on the server.
Looking at /var/log/kern.log, I’m seeing (for example):
2025-09-01T12:07:21.444437-04:00 quiz kernel: nxnode.bin[268654]: segfault at 1792e ip 00007f9fe242f111 sp 00007f9fcfffe4f0 error 4 in libnxdimi.so[7f9fe2400000+8a000] likely on CPU 10 (core 10, socket 0)
2025-09-01T12:07:21.444451-04:00 quiz kernel: Code: 04 00 b8 ff ff ff ff e9 e7 fe ff ff 90 66 90 66 2e 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 41 57 41 56 41 55 49 89 fd 41 54 55 53 48 83 ec 18 <80> bf eb 55 01 00 01 0f 85 9a 01 00 00 8b 87 ec 8b 00 00 48 8b b7I have tried uninstall/purge of the offending server and reinstalling (same result).
I also tried various settings without result: – Disabling GPU acceleration – selecting video protocol (tried all three)
Any insights would be appreciated.
Peace,
Joe

ModeratorHi Joe,
we would need to see the backtrace from the core file. You can find all the instructions here: https://kb.nomachine.com/AR09L00810
Server side logs can also be useful: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT08U00298#1.1
You can send all of that to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com, by referencing this topic.

KeymasterHi, we are going to send you a debug library (check your inbox after reading this) which will help us further with the investigation. The output you provided was useful but we need more info.
Once you’ve downloaded the library, run these commands:
sudo cp /usr/NX/lib/libnxdimi.so libnxdimi.so.ori sudo cp libnxdimi.so /usr/NX/lib/ sudo /etc/NX/nxserver --restart
Reproduce the behaviour and then send us a new backtrace and logs as before.

KeymasterThanks for those. We’re sending you a new debug library – this will let us narrow down the investigation. Submit everything just as before.

KeymasterI sent you a link to a patched library. Please try it and let us know if it solves the problem.
