Hello everyone, I’m experiencing an issue where my NoMachine session randomly freezes and then suddenly restarts, forcing me back to the login screen with all previously running applications closed. It has been happening intermittently, and I haven’t found a clear pattern yet. Below are details about my setup, what I’ve observed, and the logs I’ve gathered.

    1. System and Environment Details
    Operating System: Debian 6.1 (64-bit)
Kernel version (output of uname -a):
    Linux Travail 6.1.0-25-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.106-3 (2024-08-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Desktop Environment: GNOME 42 (X11 session)
To confirm session type, I ran:
    echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

    Output: x11

NoMachine Version: 8.16.1 (installed via .deb package from official NoMachine website)

    2. Problem Description
What happens: My NoMachine remote desktop suddenly freezes for a few seconds, then the entire session logs out or restarts. After this forced restart, I see the Ubuntu login screen again. When I log back in, all my applications from the previous session have been closed (like a full session reset).
Frequency: Roughly once or twice a day, but not at predictable intervals.
Triggers: It seems to me that this problem occurs mainly when I scroll quickly through a large amount of code in JetBrains PhpStorm. As soon as I scroll a lot, the problem suddenly appears.

    4. Logs and Diagnostics
    4.1 NoMachine Logs
I’ve enabled debug logs in NoMachine settings. The primary log files are located in:

    /usr/NX/var/log/

I’ve attached a .tar.gz file with the following:

    nxnode.log
    nxserver.log
    nxplayer.log

    I can’t upload a .tar.gz on the form so I’ve uploaded here: https://mega.nz/file/N60DFAjY#Qvb4PoN5A_qs5ZPlL5T3mywlPhhtvchgNqtCc79A4qo
    4.2 System Logs
journalctl around the time of the crash:
    journalctl -b --since "2025-03-18 17:00:00" --until "2025-03-18 17:30:00"

I see some GNOME Shell warnings and lines referencing a possible X11 server reset. I’ve included these in the attached log snippet (journalctl_snippet.txt).

    6. Additional Information
    System specs:
    AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics
    64 GB RAM
    1 To SSD
The freeze doesn’t occur if I’m physically on the machine (only when connected via NoMachine).

    7. Conclusion / Request for Help
I’m hoping someone can help me pinpoint the root cause of these session restarts. It’s quite disruptive to lose my entire session (and unsaved work) whenever this happens. If you’ve encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions, please let me know:

Could it be a driver/GPU issue causing Xorg to crash?
Are there any specific NoMachine settings I should tweak for X11 or GPU-accelerated sessions?

I’ve attached relevant logs for more detailed analysis. Let me know if there’s other information I should provide. Thanks in advance for your help!
