NX Server will not start – RHEL 8

Hi,

I’ve installed a trial of Small Business Terminal Server. However I’m having issues with the nxserver services starting.

The debug logs are reporting that the  Service ‘nxserver’: File ‘/usr/NX/var/run/nxserver.pid’ does not exist.

I’m also seeing this error in the standard logs: 34766 34766 2023-03-29 12:42:27 858.905 NXSERVER WARNING! Process ‘/usr/NX/scripts/setup/nxserver –checkservices’ with pid ‘34783/34783’ finished with exit code 1 after 0,071 seconds.

This has been deployed on a fresh build CentOS 8 workstation

OS Ver:  Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.7 (Ootpa) with Gnome
NoMachine SBTS Ver: nomachine-small-business-terminal-server_8.4.2_1_x86_64

I’ve tried an RPM re-install and a complete removal and install. However I’m still coming across this issue.

We aren’t aware of similar issues with RHEL 8.

When you reinstalled did you remove all traces of the installation? I.e did you do:

sudo rpm -e nomachine-small-business-terminal-server
sudo rm -rf /usr/NX /etc/NX

If not, please reinstall and remove traces, then reinstall.
