I’m having a strange problem: the UI is broken, see attachement.

I tried updating the system, I’m now even on Ubuntu 23.04. Reinstalled NoMachine GPU driver etc.

Tried looking into font issues. But can’t figure something out.

Anyone can point me to what to try next?

Hi, what’s the desktop environment of the Ubuntu machine? Is Wayland running there? Is this a virtual machine? Can you send us the home/.nx folder from that machine?

    Hello,

so the Host is a VirtualBox (7.0.6) on Windows 10. I was using the VM for over a year with out an issue. Host is Ubuntu 23.04 Gnome 44.0 with Wayland. Kernel 6.2.20.

Additionally I created a new VM on the Host installed a new Ubuntu 23.04 from scratch. Here NoMachine works without a problem.

To me it seems to be a “configuration” issue. Having purged everything I’m aware of and reinstalled NoMachine several times without luck.

Attached find the .nx folders _old is the one I had fore some time, the other one is from today after restarting nxplayer.

There are no logs there. This is because the logs are automatically deleted when you close the session. Since it is not possible to tick the box “Don’t delete the log files on exit” in the Player settings (given that you can’t see the check box 🙂 ), what you should is launch the session and get the logs whilst the session is still running. Thanks!

“I was using the VM for over a year with out an issue”.

Is there anything you perhaps installed/updated before the problem occurred? Ubuntu updates, new drivers, etc ?

The ~/.xsession-errors log would also be useful.

So I was further investigating, and found that it is an issue with the 3d acceleration of VirtualBox!

I attached two zip files one with 3d active, i.e. nomachine rendered unusable.

    And one deactivated and working.

Logs should now be included. Found the box in non 3D 😀

    Hope that helps

Logs were not useful unfortunately. It seems to be more of a problem with the VM and not NoMachine. We have not noticed similar behaviour during tests (and we test with multiple hypervisor solutions).
