So after some mess with just trying to get NoMachine to display a screen  when connecting.. I had to add

    ls /usr/share/xsessions

    lxqt.desktop gnome.desktop gnome-classic.desktop gnome-classic-xorg.desktop gnome-xorg.desktop ubuntu.desktop ubuntu-xorg.desktop

    /usr/NX/etc/node.cfg

    DefaultDesktopCommand “startlxqt”

This now startsup lxqt.desktop without me having to have previously logged on with windows remote desktop..

Problem is that if I try running something the gui sometimes only opens up on the remote desktop screen. It’s become very messed up in that some desktop icons are only shown when connecting Nomachine, while some programs only show up on the Remote Desktop screen, even if I’m not even connected to the remote desktop things just don’t show up on the screen nomachine is showing…. it’s a bit annoying and I really don’t want to ever use remote desktop but not sure how to remove this other screen.. and just reset everything to how it  should work.
