This might stem from the lack of support for virtual sessions on OSX but in whatever the NX4 beta version before the USB hotfix for mavericks was. I used to be able to access a remote OSX machine login and then lock the machine. So that the local physical display was on the lock screen but I still had the unlocked desktop displayed in the nx client. Ideally this is just a security thing to disable local access to the computer when it is being used remotely. After the latest release when I lock the remote machine the screen blacks out but doesn’t come back to the display like it used to.

Is there any way to achieve what I am trying to do? Having the physical machine locked but essentially connecting to a virtual display?

I am connecting from macbook air to a mac mini both running mavericks using the trial of the enterprise client and desktop respectively. I’ve tried the free version and both ssh and NX protocrols with no difference.

I know that on OSX they support virtual VNC sessions as a user different from the currently logged in user but the current user just attaches to the local session effectively unlocking the local desktop. I’ve tried some other remote desktop software like Irapp’s new version and they support this type virtual display but NX works a little better on slower connections so it would be great if I could find a way to make this work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
