While running the latest free nomachine installation program on XP, I received some concerning messages about “Windows XP logo” compatibility, and decided to click the buttons on the dialogue to abort the installation. It appears this was only partly successful. Now I have a semi-installed nomachine that I’m unable to remove or complete installation.

Running the installation again reports that nomachine has components that are running and must be stopped before installation can proceed. By clicking the “Next” button on the installer it offers to stop the relevant components, but it appears to just hang at that point.

I have also tried uninstalling nomachine via “Add and Remove Programs” control panel, but that also just hangs.

Any advice on what to try next gratefully received.

Interrupting an installation is always a delicate process. We are investigating. In the meantime can you send us: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\NoMachine\var\log\

and also the output of C:\Program Files\NoMachine\bin\nxserver.exe –status

    After which try to execute:

    C:\Program\ Files\NoMachine\bin\nxserver.exe –shutdown

Check in the Task Manager if there are any nx processes, and if there are any, kill them and try uninstalling NoMachine again via “Add and Remove Programs” panel.
