Hi NX Folk. I love your product and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the hard work and effort you all have put into what is no doubt the best remote access software on the planet. That said, sometimes changes are not actually better. I can see that it may have simplified development or something, but the systray menu being lost is a serious regression IMHO.
Take this use case you may not have considered or even tested:
I use Windows, and connect to a series of Linux boxen at home. I use ‘multiple desktops’ on my Windows and Linux boxes, six in fact, with multiple monitors (3), and to start a connection to another Linux machine in windows I used to simply click the NX systray icon, select the machine I want to connect to, and launch the window in place. Clean, simple, and brilliant design. Now, with the latest update, I must click the systray icon, select open window, which opens on the last desktop I was on, so I must close it from the task bar and open another so it opens on this desktop, then I must find the machine I want in the window, and launch it (over the top of the main window, which I will have to close again).
It’s a whole lot of clicking that does not need to occur – it didn’t before, and it was good UI design.
Can you very pretty please put back the list of connections in the systray menu?
I know there are a whole lot of people who would appreciate it.
Thanks and have a great day,

February 26, 2021 at 17:41 #32178BritgirlKeymasterThanks very much for taking the time to provide this feedback. In version 7 we redesigned the interface in order to make the opening of, and access to, multiple sessions faster because this is the most common use we have found amongst our users and what our users asked us for more frequently. The connection links were removed from the systray to put these recent connections in the Machines panel which can be reached in two clicks (one click on the monitor, one click on ‘Main window’). This, by the way, also allows us to declutter the monitor: a space that we need as we move forward with our development roadmap. So, putting the links back in the Monitor is not possible.
From what you’ve written (and with a particular use-case as an example, so thank you), I understand that the window is not opening in your current Windows workspace. I think this should be fairly straightforward to fix. Would you like it to open in the workspace you’re in, or that the current workspace switches to the one where the NoMachine window is located?
