I am a brand new user (today). I have set up NoMachine on my iPhone (for 2FA), Macbook (Macbook Pro, mid-2015, Monterrey, 12.7.6), and Windows 11 machines.

I’m mostly intending to use it to connect to the Windows machine from the MacBook. But when I do, the screen is so blurry, I can barely read it.

My Windows machine has a 43-inch monitor and is at 3480 x 2160, and my MacBook has a 15″ screen at 1920 x 1200, but [removed] never had a problem with the discrepancy, and even though I had to zoom in to read it, it was clear and readable. This is…not.

Can anyone suggest a way to make the screen readable on my MacBook that doesn’t involve making the Windows machine use a lower resolution?

Screenshot included is an example of what I’m seeing on an innocuous window on the remote Windows 11 machine.

Hi, have you activated scaling in the Window’s own system settings?

Open the session menu (Ctrl-Alt-0) and increase the Display quality. Does that help?

If not, try disabling hardware encoding on the target Windows computer, and then also hardware decoding on the Mac.

To disable HW encoding on the Windows machine, open the NoMachine Settings there, go to Server > Performance  > and make sure the option “Disable hardware encoding” (https://kb.nomachine.com/DT05U00288#3.7) is enabled.

To disable decoding on the Mac, during the session open the session Menu > Display > Change settings > Modify and select “Disable client side hardware decoding”.
