ParticipantJust installed 9.0.188 on my Mac Mini M1 as server, client is a MacBook Pro, both running MacOs 15.3.1.
As soon as I connect, the screen shades to dark blue and goes black. Cannot change the behavior by choosing different security selections in the screen blanking section of the server security menu.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Happens on MacOs to MacOs connections, does not occur on iOS to MacOs connections.

ParticipantI’ve also added a link to screencast where I’ve placed a brief 17 second video that shows what is happening on my client side connection on the MBP as well as a snip of the security settings on the MacMini M1 server.

KeymasterCan you first try disabling hardware encoding on the server-side? Go to server settings -> server performance -> uncheck “Use hardware encoding”, then connect.
If that doesn’t help, try disabling HW decoding on the client side and then connect. To do that, open the NoMachine menu panel inside the session by Ctrl+Alt+0 or click on the page peel at the top right corner of the window. Then click on Display -> Change settings. In that panel click on the Modify button to open the advanced display settings. Click on ‘Disable client side hardware decoding’ to disable it.
Do either of those help?

ParticipantNo it does not help by implementing the suggested settings on either the server or the client. I’m also having issues I’ve never had before with the server being unresponsive to the keystrokes from the client, i.e., I cannot enter in my MacOS password on the remote server lock screen; characters will not appear in the password entry field when keys are depressed. Restarts and close and reopens do not remedy this issue. Very frustrating after just having gotten version 8 finally working.

KeymasterCan you check permissions are set correcting in the macOS system setting? (System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility)
Also tell us if the server is headless.
Logs of the server machine would be useful. Please follow the instructions here: https://kb.nomachine.com/DT08U00298#1.1. You can submit them here or send directly to forum[at]nomachine[dot]com. Make sure to use the topic link or title as the subject of your email. Thanks!

ParticipantI made the requested changes to the node.cfg file and I still note the screen shading issue. It happens when the server screen is asleep and it also happens when the screen is awake so it does not appear related to sleep issues. I am providing a link to a screencast video so you can see the issue happening for yourself. I will email the logs without the /users folder as the number of files in that folder is so large my email server rejects the mail. Let me know if this is an issue or if you want it anyway and I will send it with a different mail service. https://app.screencast.com/EUnOprNy76vZp

KeymasterHi Brian,
the logs were not useful, the agent logs were missing. On the NoMachine server side, let’s use the traditional CLI method to get them again.
https://kb.nomachine.com/DT08U00298#2. You can name the file yourself, use the example we provide in the instructions.

KeymasterBrian, I just reached out to you via email about how we can proceed to get further logs from you and possibly help you clean up your NoMachine installation. One of my colleagues is in copy.

ParticipantWorked together with your people and found all of my issues in this thread were resolved with release candidate 9.1.22, so I am all set. Thanks so much!
