    Hello,

I have bought NoMachine Workstation product and everything works except I don’t know how to login and request shadow to physical display as a different user? This works on free version (NoMachine Personal).

    What works for me is:

    • I can connect to physical display if I am already logged in on physical display
    • I can login and request shadow connection to other user’s virtual display
    • I can reconnect (or use shadowing) of my own display and use VirtualGL

I can’t connect and request shadow to the user that’s sitting behind the physical display. The physical display is not listed for me in that case although I select “Show all desktops”. Also tried Ctrl+Alt+Connect. Strange? Beats me.

This free version is only for connecting to the physical desktop. It’s equivalent amongst the pay-for version is Enterprise Desktop.

In the terminal server range, which is dedicated to offering multiple virtual Linux desktops, only specific users are allowed to connect to the physical desktop:
I    Privileged system users (root or ‘sudo’ users)
    II    NoMachine administrators
III    NoMachine users trusted for connections to the physical desktop
    IV    The desktop owner

See more about this in section 10 of the Workstation guide: https://www.nomachine.com/DT03O00126. There you will find details on how to add specific users to allow them to connect to the physical display.

Thanks for above hints. The only think that worked for me is:

    /usr/NX/bin/nxserver –useradd leon –trusted

However, this gives physical desktop without approval. Any other way for non-owners to connect to physical display with approval?

With any of the Terminal Server products, connecting to the physical display of the host is possible for those documented here:

    https://www.nomachine.com/DT03O00126#10.4.

Connecting to the physical desktop of a Workstation is possible for Admins and trusted users. Authorization is implicit because they’re either admin (so need to do unattended admin stuff) or they are trusted. A non-owner can connect to a virtual desktop of the Workstation and authorization of the owner will be required.
