Slow – MacBook / Ubuntu / 4k / Enterprise Desktop / 1GB LAN

Hi,

I have a MacBook client with a 4k monitor and Enterprise Desktop (which I just purchased this afternoon) running on Ubuntu 18.04 also with a 4k monitor.

I am find the experience very slow. As I type text appears slowly, moving windows around is slow, the usual complaints.

My benchmark is using [removed] / RDP to connect to work from the same MacBook and 4k monitor over the internet which in terms of speed is indistinguishable from sitting at my work PC.

I had a look at the various posts that came up searching the forums for “slow” but I’ve not figured what might be the cause nor any ideas to try.

NoMachine support – can you help me figure what needs changing in my setup to make it fast enough.

Can you try with a different client other than macOS?  Do you get the same behaviour?
