We are evaluating the NoMachine Enterprise 4 products, but my question appears to be valid for all of the Windows clients.  I would like to connect the remote Linux host using a specific resolution, for instance at 1600×900, but since my Windows desktop resolution is 2560×1440, that is the size that is being presented from the remote Linux host.  A specific resolution was configurable in NoMachine 3 client, but I have yet to find where to change that in version 4.  I understand that the NoMachine “player” can be adjusted like a regular Windows window, but it doesn’t change the resolution of the remote host.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi lubito.

Client version 4 doesn’t allow to preconfigure the geometry of the remote desktop the first time you connect. The default configuration resizes the remote desktop to the size of the client’s display. This default can be changed in two ways:

    • By unchecking the box “Change the server resolution to match the client when I connect” in the “Display resolution” dialog (this can be done in panels appearing when the session starts)
    • By enabling the option “Resize remote screen” in the Display menu panel

You can read more details about view modes by reading this article:

Using the “Resize remote screen” option may not be always the best way to resize the desktop, because sometimes users may need a specific geometry. In order to improve this, in version 5 we’ll implement the following feature:
