I used “Connect a network port” in the NoMachine menu to connect to my local ssh server from a remote machine (as a NoMachine server).

I noticed that when starting a session, it automatically creates a tap0 interface which bridges the connection between two devices.
But the tap interface naturally sets a random IP address in 169.254.0.0/16, which is quite annoying because I constantly have to re-enter a new random IP address every time I close/reopen NoMachine client.

Is there a way to give it a static IP address?

No, there isn’t right now, but we will add the possibility to configure one in the GUI. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂

I guess that’s a limitation of the tap/tun interface. I tried searching there are workarounds, but not really a good way.

Thank you for the information. I believe it will make it more convenient to share access to services between Clients and NX Server, and possibly between servers.
(Sound seems like Kubernetes 😀 )
