For the stuff I’ve been showing recently in the videos I don’t think you’d need Cadence (it would also take me a while to sort out a test case for you). For now just do something simple like open a very big text text file using a text editor (I just tried it with nedit on a 300kB postscript file) and it shows the behavior i.e. drag the “slider” in the scrollbar on the right into the middle of the document. You likely should even see the issue if you do this quickly. Now with your Magic Mouse do the rapid swipe (one or more swipes ought to do it). I’m hopeful that if you fix that it’ll somehow translate into being fixed for the other work I’m doing in Cadence.

we are still investigating your issue. We will update you when we have anything new.
August 27, 2020 at 07:20 #29183MickMParticipantStill suffering a slow and steady death with this bug (first reported almost a year ago). Any updates? You simply can’t imagine my frustration after all this time. If there are any beta test versions at all for a fix I’ll try it! If anybody out there knows of an alternate product that allows XWindows to be individually displayed on a Mac screen I’d be immensely appreciative if you could let me know.
August 27, 2020 at 07:52 #29190BritgirlKeymasterHi MickM, the problem is that despite dedicating considerable time to this topic, the bug and trying to reproduce it in our labs, our developers have been unable to do so. Not even with Cadence or similar apps which we have in our labs and which we test regularly with. So no progress has been made in identifying what is causing it since we haven’t been able to duplicate this very weird behaviour. From the logs we can see an excessive number of requests from Cadence and we know from your earlier observation this doesn’t occur in a virtual desktop session, only in custom session. (My suggestion here would be to use a virtual desktop session rather than a custom session in the meantime, if you can, to avoid the redraw issue).
The specific steps is what we need in order to reproduce the behaviour, as Graywolf suggested. This is the only way to go forward with the investigation and the forums is not the place to do this.
So, I know that you are connecting to a Workstation and that the server is perhaps not managed by you, but by an administrator (?). In that case, what I advise you to do is open a support enquiry if it is not running as expired. This will allow us to correspond more freely without having to worry about sensitive information being made public. Alternatively, you can submit a “report issue” (support page of website, scroll down to he bottom) and we take it from there. Bear in mind, however, that we will need the version of Cadence, we will need the precise steps to reproduce the error in Cadence and a possible plain test case for us to use. Additionally, and if necessary, we can reach out to Cadence since we also have a direct channel with them as well.
I’ll leave the topic open for a while to allow you to reply if you wish to, after which I’ll close it and alert the team to this thread in case you decide to reach out to us via the website.
August 28, 2020 at 09:39 #29214MickMParticipantDid you not read my earlier post (28514) from over a month ago where I (hopefully) narrowed the issue down so something completely separate to Cadence, using just the plain old nedit text editor? I was super hopeful this would crack the case open, and have been eagerly waiting for a response ever since. However, after all that time you now make no mention of that – citing only Cadence related things. Indeed, all of the earlier video material I forwarded didn’t even involve Cadence, but only the SOS revision control software instead. So I’m obviously disappointed, could somebody please just try the simple nedit method to reproduce what I saw and report back.
August 31, 2020 at 16:00 #29263BritgirlKeymasterUsing Nedit in custom session didn’t give us any weird scrolling, and you are the only user to report this to us to be honest.
Graywolf latched on to something that in his opinion needs much deeper investigation. To do that he simply needs the steps to reproduce in the Cadence program and a test case if possible. He did ask in his post of https://forums.nomachine.com/topic/still-get-sluggish-screen-draw-performance#post-28462 whether the video you submitted was of Cadence, because it’s not clear what this “SOS Window” is that you refer to).
If you write to us as I suggested earlier, the team can ask some questions about your environment to get started including how to reproduce what is visible in the video with an application that we have access to. Thanks!
