    Hi,

I’ve been using NoMachine for a couple of days and am very pleased with its overall performance.

I have a quick question about typical energy usage. When viewing a video on the remote desktop, I see CPU usage jump to 75-80% on the client side Macbook. Is this normal?

Display is set to 30 FPS, disabled client-side post-processing, H264 encoding, second-to-worst screen quality. Server is Debian 12. Client seems to be using HW decoding, which is why I am wondering about the high CPU. I am not concerned about server CPU.

I apologize if this is the wrong place to post or I am wrong about some assumptions. I’m interested in minimizing CPU use if possible to preserve battery when I am outside, but didn’t know where else to ask about it.

Thank you for the excellent program.

I would say that it is quite normal. That’s 75-80% of a single CPU core, which is possible, especially if the remote screen resolution is high.
