    Hello,

I’m having an issue connecting to a Linux server using NoMachine from a Windows client.

I get these messages : “Unable to detect any running display. Do you want NoMachine to create a new display?”

After clicking Yes : “Unable to create a new display. Please contact your system administrator.”

Server logs show authentication succeeds, no existing session is found, server capacity is OK, but starting a virtual desktop (nxagent / X server) fails.

No physical desktop is running (:0), and virtual desktop creation does not work. /tmp and X lock files have been cleaned, NX server restarted.

Any ideas on what to check next?

    Thanks !

Hi, you are using version 8.4 on the server. You should update to the latest 8 (8.20) if it’s not possible for you to update to version 9. A number of Wayland-related issues have been fixed since 8.4. If you can update to the latest version 9, even better. Then if you reproduce the same issue, let us know.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response 😉

NoMachine 8.4 was installed on our server a long time ago, and we don’t remember the exact steps.

Could you please tell me the Linux command or procedure to update the server from 8.4 to 8.20 or 9 on Fedora 41 ?
