Hello All
Firstly I am new here, so sorry if this has been covered, I did a quick search and found nothing.
Secondly: I am unsure about the exact correlations, but am 90% certain it is related to NoMachine.
The Environment: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64, with NoMachine 5.1.24_1 and VirtualBox Version 5.0.20 r106931, although I also used 5.0.14 and had the same issues. This will be called the ‘host’. Inside VirtualBox I had Ubuntu 14.04 x64 installed with kernel Version 5.0.20 r106931 (default from webpage). This shall be called the ‘devOS’. I was connecting a NVidia Jetson TX1 (model P2597), this shall be called the ‘target’.
The symptoms: I am trying to reflash my Jetson. I did this 2 days ago (before installing NoMachine with no problems). Part of this requires you to put the Jetson into ‘rescue’ mode where it can be accessed as a storage device to be flashed. This is done within the devOS. To do this, I select the device in the VirtualBox interface and select to forward it to the devOS from the host. It makes the standard windows USB sounds, but nothing shows up in the devOS. Running $lsusb shows the device is not connected. VirtualBox shows the device is ‘captured’ but not connected and attempting to connect or disconnect it results in an error (Device is busy with previous request).
The Problem: Cannot attach USB devices to VM with NoMachine Installed.
Determining the cause: I tested many times on different VMs and restarted host and devOS. To isolate the issue I attempted to attach a standard USB Mass storage device to the devOS. Same symptoms. From this I determined it was not the Jetson at fault. Considering this worked fine pre NoMachine I checked the hosts Device manager and NoMachine does install some Virtual USB devices. I attempted to stop any NoMachine services and processes but still had the same issue.
The Solution: I proceeded to uninstall NoMachine, and everything works again. The USB Storage device and the target all show up in the devOS when mounted from the host. There is probably a conflict between VirtualBox’s virtual USB drivers and those of NoMachine.
I do not expect this to be fixed or addressed, I just wanted to share it encase someone has the same issue of USB / VirtualBox/ NoMachine problems.
Regards

We have alerted Oracle to the problem. In meantime, you can uninstall the USB drivers without having to remove NoMachine. Please check the article here: https://www.nomachine.com/AR11K00756
