I’m not sure that this is a problem with the macOS server, it’s just a hunch; could be a problem with the Linux client.

I’ve been using NoMachine free version for a few months and suddenly, when I connect I just get a white screen, and after a short time the connection is lost with “Error is 104: Connection reset by peer”. Started happening today, but I haven’t used it for a week previously.

I uninstalled the server and reinstalled the latest version (8.14.2 at time of writing); I also updated the client, and made a fresh install on a completely different Linux client, same result.

    The two Linux clients are:

    • Ubuntu 22.04.3, GNOME 42.9, Wayland (just for testing)
    • Gentoo, KDE 6, X11 (regular work machine)

The macOS host did just recently update to Ventura 13.7.

It appears that the log archive exceeds the allowed size, so I will email it through.

    Hi,

we checked the logs. It looks like the macOS server ran out of available shared memory, and NoMachine needs to allocate shared memory to work. You can list allocated shared memory segment with the ‘ipcs -m’ command, and you can remove them one by one with the ‘ipcrm’ command, but it would be much easier (and safer) to just reboot the system.

Please also check if you have any crash report for the nxnode process in the ‘/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports’ or ‘~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports’ dirs. If you find them, please send them by email as well. If they were produced by an older NoMachine version, it could still be interesting to have a look.

Yes, that’s what it was, thank you!

Thanks for reporting back. Should any new crash reports be produced (now that you are using 8.14), feel free to send them to us. We’ll keep the topic open for a while so you can submit them here.
