Downloaded NoMachine as a hope to be able to stream my Gaming PC to my laptop but I’m unable to get my xbox one controller plugged into my laptop to come up as an applicable USB Device. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device including it’s driver, the NoMachine USB drivers, and reinstalled the NoMachine software.
Has anyone had this work at all?
April 6, 2020 at 09:40 #26537Giorgi-G.ContributorHi,
1. Can you please specify the model of your controller?
2. In the NoMachine USB forwarding tab, do you see other USB devices on both sides (local and remote)? Screen from the Devices tab will be highly appreciated.

Again this is using my laptop as the local and my gaming PC as the server, do I need to configure it on the server side at all?
Also, when I go into the device manager on my laptop it shows three NomMchine USB devices with the same name. I didn’t know if it that was normal or not.

Just to be sure, on both sides you use Windows OS, right?
No device in the NoMachine USB Forwarding panel means that USB forwarding is disabled at least on one machine. Some of the conflicting Softwares may be installed on your machine, please check it here AR04Q01027. Especially pay attention to ASMedia USB Controller, you can read more here TR12O08331
Can you please send us logs from both machines? How to collect the NoMachine log files: AR10K00697

What I ended up doing based on your advice was that on my gaming pc that I’m using as my server to stream to my laptop, I did see that it had the ASMedia USB Controller in my device manager. I ended up switching the drivers to the USB generic ones and tested it again and looked at the logs and noticed I was still getting USB device errors on the device log on the server side.
My main question would be if I’m attaching my Xbox controller to only the client to try to use it while streaming from my gaming pc why would it matter if the server had the connection issue? Just wondering since the logs on the client side seem pretty clean compared to the latter.
Again thanks for the help and let me know if there is anything else I should be trying.

If it’s disabled on that machine, you will not be able to use USB forwarding in any direction. So to be able to connect to it anything or forward from it, the conflicting drivers should be removed.
When you will remove the conflicting driver, double-check that its file also is removed, the path is:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\asmthub3.sys
After removing the driver from the system restart your machine, and in the server-side logs folder you will see nxusb.log file and USB forwarding module will be enabled.
