MklFlnsbrgParticipantHi!
I have a Windows 11 laptop where the user gets auto logged in when turned on, using the netplwiz command to disable password. It is only used for decibel measurements in a music venue, so no need to add security. I want to see the desktop (aka the measurement that starts upon login) using NoMachine on a Mac, but I cannot get the Windows credentials right. So I’m wondering if the autologin without password hinders my access via NoMachine to said desktop? I have looked at https://kb.nomachine.com/AR03S01118 without luck.
Thanks in advance!

BritgirlKeymasterHi, not having a password is a problem. Having a password to log in remotely is essential. What you could is enable NoMachine Users DB and set create a user and password just for NoMachine usage. It won’t affect your system settings. So when logging in you use the NoMachine User pwd rather than your system account and (no)password. Take a look at this topic post: https://forum.nomachine.com/topic/connecting-to-nomachine-on-windows-requires-password#post-49194 which contains the instructions.
Otherwise, for more advanced users, you could try using key-based authentication, as explained here: https://kb.nomachine.com/AR02L00785.

MklFlnsbrgParticipantThanks! creating a windows user just for NoMachine and following the steps in your first link did the trick! Thanks again 🙂
Kind regards.

enzo5ParticipantDoes autologin without a password on my Windows 11 laptop (set via netplwiz) block NoMachine on my Mac from accessing the desktop? The laptop runs a decibel app, and while I’ve solved Spotify issues before, I can’t figure out the credentials. Could the lack of a password be the issue?

BritgirlKeymasterEnzo5,
please refer to this article about:
How to connect to Windows with NoMachine and an empty password
https://kb.nomachine.com/AR05L00802As I wrote here: https://forum.nomachine.com/topic/windows-credentials-with-autologin#post-50897 is an easier way to get around not having a password, rather than reconfiguring Windows policies.
