Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I’m getting confused with the direction of client or server but I noticed that, while I can still send files from the remote computer/host (server?) to my PC using ‘Send a file from the client’ –> ‘To myUser’, I can’t get anything from the server. Clicking ‘Send a file from the client’ –> ‘To this computer’ or ‘Download a file from the server’ doesn’t bring up a pop-up dialogue window at the moment.
Kind regards
timjimParticipantHi,
Just to put this up as a workaround – I noticed that when I get the multiple user issue after reconnecting, it is possible to reset the situation by manually disconnecting from the NoMachine top-right options/splash window and then reconnecting again. This seems to reset/clear up the multiple accounts so that it appears that I am a single user again, and drag & drop works.
Hopefully, that also gives a hint in your debugging!
Thanks again,
Tim
timjimParticipantThanks! Kind regards,
Tim
timjimParticipantHi, I ended up sending the whole thing, did you receive it? I reproduced the error at the very end, so it should be one of the most recent actions.
Kind regards,
Tim
timjimParticipantAh! Thanks for the tip – I have v3.2.4, so it has the floating as you mentioned =)
I’m using a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running Android 8.0.0.
Thanks again, Tim
timjimParticipantHi Tor, just to let you know, the Linux log is more than a GB in size! Should I refresh my session or get a more specific log for you?
Kind regards,
Tim
timjimParticipantThanks, I subscribed. I’m using Swype at the moment (though I know it hasn’t had support for a while)!
Another thing that came to mind is the little grey bar affixed to the top of the keyboard, with additional buttons such as super and tab etc. – I’m not sure if it is just for me, but I find tapping the buttons quite unreliable for some reason. It often seems that it mistakes my taps as an attempt to swipe and drag along the row, which is quite a nuisance when trying to use tab completion! (A shoutout to the ConnectBot app, which I use to do the reverse tunnelling for NoMachine to access my firewalled computers – they implement the extra key bar very well!)
timjimParticipantHi Tor, thanks for your reply. I’ll switch to a keyboard which can float and give it a go too, though I do like using the one I have! Instead of needed to guess, perhaps just a bit more flexibility on how far one can scroll the screen around would be nice!
timjimParticipantThanks for the update, Tor. I look forward to hearing about it.
timjimParticipantOk, on closer inspection, I spoke too soon. Drag and drop fails, as does ‘Download a file from the server’. However, I may have identified why this happens.
I am working from a public connection that times out periodically, so I have to reconnect to the server when I lose my connection. I think that it is not correctly identifying that the previous connection has dropped and should be ended. When I look at the ‘Send a file from the client’ in the tray after I reconnect, I can see myself connected twice (I’ve attached a screenshot). Clicking send to the earlier session connection does not result in a transfer box, but clicking on the later session connection does. I assume that the drag and drop automation and the ‘Download a file from the server’ code is selecting the earlier/first session? This might make sense why I thought it had worked previously, as I had just restarted my server.
Let me know if I can gather any more information.
Incidentally, this wouldn’t be such an issue if the ‘Send a file from the client’/’Download a file from the server’ buttons could send multiple files! Is drag and drop the only way to send several files at once, currently?
Many thanks and regards,
Tim

timjimParticipantHi, thanks for your reply! I think I’ve found the issue for the drag and drop. Under:
Settings –> Server Preferences –> Transfers
The ‘Automatically save files in’ checkbox was not ticked (though I do not remember this begin required before) – checking this box bizarrely fixes the broken ‘Download a file from the sever’ and ‘Send a file from the client’ issue too.
timjimParticipantGreat! Thanks very much for the support! I’ll be recommending NoMachine for anyone whos asks for a remote desktop solution thanks to the excellent support (unlike a certain blue-themed competitor)! 😉
Wishing you all a good day.
timjimParticipantHi, thank you for your response and help! Resetting the permissions for nxfwadd.sh and nxfwget.sh fixed the issue.
I did notice that the timestamps on the logs didn’t seem to make sense, but yes, I followed the instructions linked – specifically the section https://www.nomachine.com/DT10O00163#1.1 ; it mentions that no restarts are required so after editing the configuration files, I tried to connect using the client after a few moments.
Regarding the permissions, I see that the setiud bit had been changed to an execute bit for the files you mention above. At the moment, nxfunct.sh, nxgfxcheck.sh, and nxfwdel.sh are still -rwxr–r–. – is this ok or do these also need to be changed?
Many thanks.
For reference, the full output is of ls -ltr /usr/NX/scripts/restricted is:

timjimParticipantHi, sorry about the slow reply – I finally had a chance to collect the logs. I have sent them for the error on trying to connect to the Linux machine from my Windows client (without using a reverse SSH tunnel). Thanks! Please let me know if you need more information.
timjimParticipantThanks for your message and sorry for the slow reply – I didn’t realise this has been up since 2 weeks ago.
Regarding the firewall, it’s a university firewall over which I can’t control so that’s why I had resorted to SSH tunnelling, I’m afraid!
I will attempt to collect the logs and send them. Many thanks.
