bunditoParticipant
For anyone else who wants to customize things a little, here’s what I did. I made aliases to the connection “documents” for my two different Linux machines. I changed the alias icons using the technique described here: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25383?locale=en_US
Now I have two nice icons in my Mac dock, one with the Gnome icon and another with the KDE icon. Clicking either one launches NoMachine and starts the connection.
bunditoParticipantThey’re only PNG files, but I can’t assign icon A to machine A and icon B to machine B. Sometimes I dream up solutions to problems that don’t even exist. It’s a bad habit. I’ll try to stop. Thanks for the replies and keep up the good work. !M is a great product.
bunditoParticipantI have since switched to a Linux distribution built on Ubuntu 16.04 (KDE Neon) and I am able to grab Command-Tab again. When I was running the server on Ubuntu 17.10, it would cycle through the Mac windows instead of being grabbed and passed to the Linux machine.
I suppose you can close this issue as non-reproducible, since I can’t reproduce it anymore either.
bunditoParticipantYes, Discover is the name of the KDE/Plasma software store.
NoMachine only operates on X11 displays; I doubt a Wayland session would even open.
Wayland doesn’t seem yet ready for widespread adoption – Ubuntu announced they’d be sticking with X11 as the default for the upcoming 18.04 LTS release. Wayland was expected to be the primary display tech, but they reversed course and opted to stick with X11.
